Description: How can better relationships between academic, practitioner and policymaking communities on security and foreign policy be built from a diversity of perspectives? The newly launched Security Policy and Practice (SPP) Working Group aims to strengthen and facilitate a policy-engaged dialogue on UK security, which prioritises a plurality of theoretical and political lenses, including historically marginalised voices. This event will set out the opportunities and challenges of security policy engagement between researchers, policymakers, thinktank experts and practitioners to explore challenges, lessons, areas of collaboration and ideas for the future agenda of the Working Group. The event will start by introducing the aims and scope of SPP, before hearing from a range of experts about the challenges, opportunities and lessons on the interface between policy, practice and research. They will then discuss strategies for strengthening engagement and what the Working Group can do to foster them. Read more on the groups’ BISA event page.
